How does bitbybit connect to WhatsApp?
bitbybit is an Official Meta Tech Partner. We run on WhatsApp Cloud API — Meta’s own hosting of the Business Platform — and the WhatsApp Business App with coexistence (COEX); a WhatsApp Sandbox lets you scan a QR and test features before you go live. With Coexistence you keep your number and keep using the WhatsApp Business App on it. The Cloud API route needs a number that is not active on any WhatsApp account, so a number already on WhatsApp must have that account deleted first — or connect it through Coexistence instead. Either way, bitbybit operates the system on top.
Can I keep my existing WhatsApp number and conversations?
Yes, with coexistence (COEX). The bitbybit AI agent and bitChat work on 1:1 conversations only; WhatsApp groups are not supported. Your team keeps the WhatsApp Business App running on the same number — groups, voice and video calls, catalog, labels, and quick replies stay in the app — while bitbybit layers automation, the AI agent, and the customer record on top. There is no number migration. Chat history can only sync the last 180 days of 1:1 chats (and 2 weeks of media); older history and group chats stay in the app and are not imported. Meta does switch off a few app features on a coexistence number: broadcast lists become read-only (broadcasts run from bitbybit instead), and disappearing messages, view-once, and live location are turned off for 1:1 chats. If you want to keep the number but not the app, the Cloud API route needs the existing WhatsApp account deleted first.
What does WhatsApp cost — and does bitbybit mark it up?
WhatsApp message fees are set by Meta — per delivered message, by category and market — and billed at Meta’s published rates with no markup — you pay a flat platform fee to bitbybit, not a surcharge on every message. The absence of the typical reseller markup is part of running on official rails.
Will the AI answer accurately, or guess?
It answers from your data — your catalog, your orders, your policies — not the internet’s version of your business.
